Homer United Methodist Church welcomes you!
Our mission at Homer UMC is “Connecting People With Christ”. We are an active church and have been serving God in this community since 1839. We are a diverse group of people from all walks of life, each bringing differing gifts, abilities, and needs making our church truly unique.
We are committed to our community and its people. To that end, we offer a variety of ministries and missions, including a blended worship service at 9:00 a.m. followed by classes for all age groups from pre-school to adults, as well as a variety of other small group ministries. We have two youth groups, one for high school and one for middle school. Our church facility is home to the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts, and 4-H groups of Homer. As part of Homer Churches Cooperating we help meet the needs of many residents in a variety of ways. We serve the Sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month, opening the Lord’s Table to all, members and nonmembers alike. We have a variety of fellowship opportunities, including coffee hour between worship and class time, potlucks, cookouts, and movie nights. Most months, a Free Community Meal is offered to all area residents. This fellowship outreach brings close to 100 people together for a time of good food and lively conversation.
You are welcome here and we will make every effort to ensure that you feel welcome, loved, uplifted, and encouraged. In a church of our size, we have the ability to offer a lot without ever losing the warmth of a small town church. Give us a try. You’ll soon find yourself becoming part of our “church family,” in a place where “everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came.”
See you in church,
Pastor Teri Shane
