Pre-K through 5th grade – BLAST
The pre-K through 5th grade Sunday School is a BLAST (Bible Learning and Spirtual Training), a VBS-style program. Children gather for contemporary Christian music, offering, and attendance. Then, each sub-group follows 15-minute rotations between Bible story/lesson, crafts, and activity/game, all taught at their age level. BLAST uses Group’s Living Inside Out curriculum.
The junior high group focuses on Bible study, discipleship, Christian community, and faith knowledge through discussion, videos and games. The Claim the Life curriculum helps youth remember and live God’s Word.
The senior high group is where teens can talk about their concerns and questions without being judged. The kids have all felt that what is said in the classroom will stay in the classroom. We discuss current happenings in their lives and school, and we help them to see a bigger picture of the world with the focus on how GOD should be the most important person for them and how he can help them through the tough high school years.
Junior High Fun Fridays
Kids in grades 6-8 meet for food, fun, friends, and faith on Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Some of the activities include movie night, gym night, game night, and group outings. For more information, call the church office, 896-2038.
Senior High Activities
The Senior High kids meet once a month for activities and fellowship.
Vacation Bible School
Fun for Kids
Every year, for a week during the summer, Homer United Methodist Church sponsors Vacation Bible School. This program is for all area youth who are four years old though the 6th grade.
Vacation Bible School consists of an opening time with a skit, classroom Bible lessons, snacks, recreation, crafts and music. The offering collected during opening time of VBS is donated to various charities such as Heifer International.
Rewarding for Volunteers
VBS is an excellent opportunity for you to discover, use, and develop your gifts and make an eternal impact in the lives of children. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer and pitch in – all are welcome to come and participate.
