Our church has a prayer room that is open 24 hours a day. The room has a small desk, many devotional books and bibles. Prayer concerns are also posted here. All are encouraged to use this room for private prayer.
A prayer chain is maintained by the congregation. Prayer concerns are called into the coordinator or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org Requests are then sent to all who are on the prayer chain. Each prayer request is prayed for when it is received. Those not having email are placed on the phone prayer chain.
A prayer garden is located at the front of the church. Everyone is encouraged to sit and pray at the table and benches. Located behind the church is the Ebenezer Prayer area. This is an area where all are encouraged to give praise by writing their praise on a stone and adding it to the pile of stones.
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up…He named it Ebenezer, saying, “thus far has the Lord helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12
Serving the Local Church
HUMC has many volunteers that serve the church in a variety of roles and committees. These members support the church mission through education, worship, and outreach ministries, as well as the day-to-day operation of the church. For additional information about these roles or other opportunities to get involved, stop by the office or contact the pastor.
Funeral Dinners can be arranged for church members. The families are lifted up in prayer at this time
Meals can be arranged to be taken to persons/families who are experiencing times of hardship or a family that has had a new baby. Families are also prayed for at this time.
New visitors to HUMC are taken cookies sometime during the week. The visitors are also lifted up in prayer.
HUMC provides facilities for the weekly meetings of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Homer.
